ABSTRACT

Vatavyadhi’s are included under the category of Mahagada because of their  complex and complicated pathophysiology ,clinical features,complications and     treatment.Amashaygata vata is due to vitiated vata in Amashaya. It is responsible for many diseases like Trishna, Chardi, Shwas, Kas, Visuchika, Udgar etc.The vatavyadhi chikitsa comprises the principles like Awarana-Bhedan,Shodhan,Shaman and Brumhana. Bhruhattrayi has mentioned chikitsa of amashaygata vata in vatvyadhi chikitsaprakaran. In Ashtang Hriday chikitsashtan (Vatavyadhichikitsaa.A.H.chi.21/14) Vagbhata has specifically mentioned shaman chikitsa after Vaman in Amashaygata Vata which includes Shaddharan choorna or Vachadi gana. In this literary review, an attempt has been done to evaluate the mode of action, awasthanurup selection of both the medicines in Amashaygatavata.
